Hila Fahima

Hila Fahima is a coloratura soprano whose work spans the major opera houses and concert stages of Europe and beyond. After training in the Young Artists Programme of The Israeli Opera, she became an ensemble member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin (2011–2013) and, from 2013 to 2020, a permanent ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper. On the Vienna stage she appeared in more than thirty productions, including Gilda in Rigoletto, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, Norina in Don Pasquale, Adina inL'elisir d'amore, Nannetta in Falstaff, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Sophie in Werther, Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro and the Voice of the Woodbird in Siegfried.

Her repertoire moves with equal authority through the coloratura canon and the central lyric soprano roles. She has sung the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg and The Israeli Opera; Violetta Valéry in La traviata at the Oper Burg Gars Festival; and Gilda in Rigoletto at the Wiener Staatsoper and The Israeli Opera. Other signature roles include Olympia in Les contes d'Hoffmann, Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Dalinda inAriodante, and Lucia — a part she has made a particular calling card in recent seasons.

Recent and upcoming guest engagements have taken her to Opera Krakowska as Zerbinetta, Oper Köln as Oscar, Teatro alla Scala as the First Wood Sprite in Rusalka, and the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker for New Year's concerts. She returns to The Israeli Opera as the Queen of the Night and as Bahia in the world premiere of Yonatan Kna'an's Mufkeret, and appears in gala and recital engagements at the Oper Burg Gars Festival, the nitsch museum and with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento.

Concert and festival appearances include the BBC Proms, where she made her debut as the Young Shepherd in Tannhäuser with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra; Poulenc's Gloria at the Prague Spring Festival; the Opera Gala of the German AIDS Foundation at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; and Strauss and Offenbach programmes with the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker. Her solo discography is led by the Orfeo album Donizetti · Verdi, a recital of bel canto arias recorded with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under Michele Gamba.
